Sourton Quarry (Buildings Section)

A visit to Sourton Quarry that produced high grade limestone but closed due to flooding in 1906. There were various owners until ECC finished quarrying aggregate in the 1960s. The lease was then sold to Devon Wildlife Trust that now manages it as a nature reserve. Features include remains of quarry buildings, interesting geology and protection of endangered species.

Meet at Sourton Quarry EX20 0QB off old A30 on way to Bridstowe.

Note that stout footwear is essential.
