Visit to Tiverton Castle (Exeter Branch)

4 July 2018 at 2:00 pm

A half-day excursion to Tiverton Castle using private cars.

Tiverton Castle is part Grade I listed and part Scheduled Ancient Monument. The tour will begin in the gardens, thereafter proceeding to the Castle (including parts that are not usually open to the public) to learn about its 900 year history, including the people who lived there – the Earls of Devon, Princess Katherine Plantagenet and the Carews, among others. During the English Civil War the Castle was besieged and captured by Fairfax.

A cream tea is included.

Booking is required.

The photo is of the south-east tower of the castle (Humphrey Bolton)
