An afternoon of talks and readings
2024 is the 70th anniversary of the publication of W.G. Hoskins’ landmark book, Devon. Born in Exeter, Professor Hoskins (The Devonshire Association’s President in 1978) had a deep love for and profound knowledge of our county. In writing his Devon he visited every one of our county’s parishes and his book is still essential reading today for anyone interested in discovering the history of our county.
To mark this anniversary and Professor Hoskins’ pioneering research into Devon’s history, The Devonshire Association is hosting an afternoon of short talks by a panel of leading Devon archaeologists and historians. They will be sharing their appreciation of W.G. Hoskins’ work by reading their favourite passages from his Devon.
