A talk about Trinity House (IA Section)

Sat. 18 November 2023 at 11:00 am

Free

A talk entitled “Trinity House: the lighthouse and pilotage authority for England, Wales and Gibraltar” to be given by Captain David Parsons, a member of the Younger Brethren of Trinity House.

Incorporated by Royal Charter by Henry VIII in 1514, Trinity House is today a vital part of Britain’s maritime community. In addition to owning and operating lighthouses, lightvessels, beacons and buoys to keep safe all mariners at sea around our shores, Trinity House is called in to mark—and clear if required—wrecks, help develop state of the art electronic navigation tools for vessels of all sizes to overcome the vulnerabilities of GPS, and to act as Nautical Assessors in Admiralty Court cases.

The talk will take place in the Corinthian Room of the Royal Torbay Yacht Club. The Club’s bar and bar food facility will be available to us afterwards. Wheelchair users can be accommodated by arrangement – please contact the Organiser.

A Torbay Council car park (fee paying) is opposite the Club.
