Event Navigation
Agriculture is the largest industry in Devon, and it has changed rapidly over the past few years. We felt it important to explore the history and changes through a series of field visits and talks.
Agriculture Industry: Event Two
A talk by Professor John Wibberley of Reading University upon CATTLE THEN AND NOW, which will consider the changes in dairy cattle management, milk marketing and climate change.
Prof Wibberley is an agriculturalist engaged in rural development in the UK and overseas with tropical experience stretching from Nigeria (mid-1970s), to some forty African, Asian and Latin American countries.
He was brought up in rural Derbyshire and showed a passion for farming at a young age later working on a mixed farm in North Warwickshire before studying at the University of Reading. He has worked for 25 years with The Farming Community Network, helping to provide longer-term support for farmers through issues such as BSE, Foot-and-Mouth Disease and bovine tuberculosis.
We plan to take lunch locally.
