Collaven Moor DWT reserve (Botany Section)
Sun. 12 July 2026 at 11:00 am
A field trip to Collaven Moor DWT reserve.
This is a new DWT reserve (purchased in 2025) adjacent to Sourton Quarry. It is both a species rich and herb rich Culm grassland site with Greater Burnet, Wavy St John’s-wort and many sedge species.
To find the entrance, come off the main road at Pool village and follow the track towards Sourton (it is marked as a bridleway) until you reach a metal gate (w3w provider.slipping.surprised). Note the track has a lot of potholes so you will need to take it slow. We will park just inside the metal gate along the track but we will all have to leave at the same time as the last one in will have to be the first one to leave!
Botany Section events are from 11.00 a.m. to approximately 4.00 p.m., unless otherwise stated. Bring packed lunch, appropriate footwear and clothing, as well as sufficient water, sun-block, insect repellent or other essentials required for a day outdoors. Please contact the leader if you wish to attend – meeting details can sometimes change at short notice and if the weather forecast looks poor the meeting may have to be cancelled. You should also check with the leader if you wish to bring your dog.
Our meetings are free to Devonshire Association members. Non-members are very welcome to join us, but we would suggest a donation of £3 to £5 (in cash please) to help support our work.
