A talk “Crime and composition. The detective novels and life of ‘Edmund Crispin’ (Bruce Montgomery)” to be given by Robin Wootton.

Bruce Montgomery was a particularly entertaining and skilful ‘Golden Age’ crime novelist. He was also a talented musician and composer, responsible for the music for several popular films, including Doctor in the House and some of the Carry On films.

He was a friend of Philip Larkin, Kingsley Amis, Gerard Hoffnung and Malcolm Arnold, and he lived in and near Totnes from 1962 until his death in 1978.
