Dartmoor walk to see Reverend Bray’s rock inscriptions (Plymouth Branch)

Fri. 14 June 2024 at 1:30 pm

Free

A joint Devonshire Association / Royal Geographical Society half-day field visit to inspect the Reverend Bray’s bardic rock inscriptions in the Cowsic valley near Two Bridges.

This off-the-beaten-track, Dartmoor walk will be led by Simon Dell, MBE, author, guide and local historian and it complements Simon’s earlier talk on this intriguing subject about granite boulders inscribed at the behest of the Reverend Edward Bray.

Meet at 1.30pm outside the front door of the Two Bridges Hotel, PL20 6SW. Parking at the hotel is available for customers so attendees might like to have lunch before the walk or at least a cup of coffee to pay for the parking!  Otherwise it is £5.

As the walk is quite arduous and involves a stream crossing and wet patches, the advice is that wellies are best and bring a stick or two for balance.  Waterproofs also advised as location is rather exposed.

This event is free and no booking is required.
