Celebrating Devon’s World-Class Heritage: Discovery Days
This year, the Devonshire Association is ‘Celebrating Devon’s World-Class Heritage’ in a project supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund which aims to raise awareness of our county’s UNESCO designated natural and cultural heritage and the Devonshire Association’s role in promoting that heritage over the past 163 years.
See this page for details of all the events.
Aspects of the Exeter City of Literature designation, which covers all of Devon, will be explored at Churston Ferrers Church in the morning and at the nearby home of Agatha Christie, at Greenway, in the afternoon.

Meet at 2.30 pm at the bench opposite the shop entrance for a guided tour of parts of the garden at Greenway by Sandy Howard. Sandy will focus on the three walled gardens before going up to the Fernery and Clock Golf, along the hydrangea border with the view of the river and house, and down a steep zigzag to the side/front of the house. We will hear stories of Agatha and her family and how they spent their time in ‘the loveliest place in the world’.
Please note that the walk will require some levels of fitness and sturdy footwear as steep slopes and steps are unavoidable at Greenway!
The garden tour is STRICTLY LIMITED TO 15 PEOPLE and will last about an hour so there will be time to visit the house afterwards (last entry 4.30 pm).
Ten car parking spaces will be reserved for the Devonshire Association – please car share where possible and mention the DA on arrival.
