An excursion to Fforest Fawr Geopark (north of Newport).
To be led by Dr Tony Ramsay from Cardiff University.
The two-day field excursion will focus on the geology and links between geology, geo-exploitation and the Geopark’s industrial, cultural and intangible heritage.
Saturday 13th April
The main aim of the day is to investigate the geology and industrial history along three trails.
- Trail 1. The Pontneddfechan Waterfall Walk
- Trail 2. Bwa Maen
- Trail 3. Craig y Dinas to the Old Gunpowder Factory
Sunday 14th April
The main aim of the day is to investigate the geology and industrial history of the Penwyllt Quarries area.
