Field Trip: Bridport’s Textile History (IA Section)

A guided walk led by Richard Sims. Meet at 11 am at Bridport Museum in South Street, Bridport.
Bridport’s involvement with the rope and net industry dates back to 1211 when King John ordered ropes and sailcloth for his Navy. This walk will look at various sites connected with the trades, as well as Dissenters chapels, breweries and merchant’s houses. In the afternoon we will look at the hemp and flax industry of West Bay.
