Field trip to Deer Park Farm, Trusham (Botany Section)

Sun. 12 May 2024 at 11:00 am

A farm with ancient woodland and old grassland, by kind permission of Audrey Compton.

‘This is a farm where wildlife comes first!’ Spring flowers, including abundant Green-winged Orchids (Orchis morio). There is some steep land.

Directions: leave the B3193 at Crocombe Bridge, signed to Trusham. Turn right after crossing the river and the old railway line. Go up the hill, and then turn left down the farm track at SX 856 814 to meet in the farmyard. There is parking for about 14 cars, but car-sharing is strongly recommended to reduce CO2 emissions.

Botany Section meetings are from 11.00 a.m. to approximately 4.00 p.m., unless otherwise stated. Bring packed lunch, appropriate footwear and clothing, as well as sufficient water, sun-block, insect repellent or other essentials required for a day outdoors. Please contact the leader if you wish to attend – meeting details can sometimes change at short notice and if the weather forecast looks poor the meeting may have to be cancelled. You should also check with the leader if you wish to bring your dog.

Non members are welcome.
