Field trip to Pinhay Warren (Botany Section)
Sun. 29 June 2025 at 11:00 am
Event Navigation
Pinhay Warren, in the Axmouth-Lyme Regis Undercliffs NNR is a little-explored area recently made accessible by a new loop from the main coast path across unstable, soft cliffs where vegetation forms a mosaic of pioneer, ruderal, grassland and scrub communities where Blue Fleabane, Marsh Helleborine and several species of gentian add interest to botanists. The presence of rare insects including Cliff Tiger Beetle and Wood White might interest entomologists too.
Meet at Holmbush Car Park, Lyme Regis.
Leader: David Allen
Meetings are from 11.00 a.m. to approximately 4.00 p.m. unless otherwise stated.
Non-members are welcome. Bring packed lunch, appropriate footwear and clothing, as well as sufficient water, sun-block, insect repellent or other essentials required for a day outdoors. Please contact the leader if you wish to attend – meeting details can sometimes change at short notice and if the weather forecast looks poor the meeting may have to be cancelled. You should also check with the leader if you wish to bring your dog.
