A La Ronde, in Exmouth, is an unusual 16-sided house owned by the National Trust. The Grade I listed building was completed in 1796 for two spinster cousins, Jane and Mary Parminter. These ladies took their inspiration from a grand tour of Europe, and the design is thought to be based on the Basilica of San Vitale, a 6th-century church in Ravenna, Italy.
Using private cars, enter ‘Summer Lane’ on your Satnav as the postcode is unreliable. Otherwise take a signposted turning off the A376.
There is no charge for National Trust members presenting their membership cards; non-members will have to pay about £10 per person on the day. Booking is essential.
