Harry Juniper on Bideford Pottery (Bideford Branch)

Fri. 21 October 2022 at 2:00 pm

£2 – £4

Harry Juniper will be talking about Bideford Pottery which he founded in 1983.

Bideford-based potter Harry Juniper made his first harvest jug in 1958 for the Torrington Town Crier, Burt Waldron, using the traditional sgraffito style of decoration which had been used on North Devon pottery since the 17th century. Over the years Harry has made thousands of harvest jugs, some with designs depicting political stories, a naughty postcard series, Dad’s Army, as well as specially commissioned jugs to celebrate various events and occasions.

His life is a fascinating story with many unexpected aspects which will be relatively unknown to many!

Please note that a contribution of £2 (DA members), £4 (non-members) is requested by all attending to help cover costs.
