Islam and the work of Exeter Mosque and the Muslim community of Devon – Imam Kawsar Ahmed and Yousuf Hindess, Community Outreach – Exeter Mosque Management Team.
In 1976 land in York Road, Exeter became place for meeting and prayer. The first meeting was attended by just 17 people. The new and impressive mosque opened in 2011 following three years of construction. It is notable that the Muslim communities in the South West have forged a very strong tradition of being very much part of the wider community; and, with churches as well, they’re very important in bringing people together.
