Event Navigation
Brightfire Pottery specialises in the traditional Japanese pottery process known as Raku.
After a tour of the premises, participants will be invited to paint a pot or ceramic object made from local clay using Brightfire’s exotic glazes. There will also be a chance to see inside the kiln and watch the glazes turn to glass as the temperature reaches 1,000°C. Firing takes about 30 minutes. The pots will then be removed and plunged into sawdust: combustion produces the colours and textured effects. After cooling and cleaning, the pots will be ready to take home.
The special discounted price per person is £40, which covers everything – tuition, the glazes, firing, and one item of your choice. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided.
Booking is essential. Please arrive promptly at 12 noon using private cars.
