Reverend Bray’s bardic boulders – sermons in stone (Plymouth Branch)

Lying in the Cowsic valley below Beardown Farm, within the private land of the farm and off the beaten track of any public footpath is a Dartmoor curiosity like no other. Boulders of granite inscribed at the behest of the Rev’d Edward Bray are the subject of this intriguing talk.

They had fascinated Simon for decades and during the summer of 2022 he was given permission by the farmer to visit the land to examine the stones. Along with his grandson who was on school holiday and in need of something to delve into, several days were spent searching out and uncovering these mysterious carvings.
