Jim Causley started singing in a Wren Music group as a teenager. Now he’s a professional folk musician, songwriter and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominee! His live performances, recording and songwriting projects have earned him huge acclaim both nationally and locally.
Marilyn Tucker is a singer and storyteller with a strong sense of her Devonian roots which are clear in her performances. Her songs and stories are learned from her parents, from books and manuscripts and from the people she meets. She is a strong and significant songwriter especially on the history and place of women in the Her Story project.
Paul Wilson uses his musical ability to carry the stories of those he sings about. He arranges songs, creating strong vocal harmony lines both for Marilyn and himself and for the trio with Jim. Paul’s main instruments are piano accordion and guitar although he’s at home on a number of others. He is a songwriter and composer.
The Landkey Carols comprises a collection of 15 local carols from a tradition stretching back well over 100 years in the village of Landkey, North Devon. Some are unique to Landkey alongside some better known pieces. The collection has been recently re-discovered and a team from Wren Music have provided lyrics, scores and audio guides. The new arrangements of the Landkey Carols provide accessible lines for people to sing in harmony and experience this rich local tradition of Devon carolling.
