Soar Mill Cove and Bolt Tail (Botany Section)
Sun. 16 June 2019 at 10:30 am
Meet at 10.30 am at the National Trust car park at Bolberry Down, SX6887 3855 southwest of Malborough on the A381 between Kingsbridge and Salcombe.
We will explore the coast path southeast to Soar Mill Cove and beyond to the cliff top mires where Dotted Sedge Carex punctata was discovered during our last meeting to this area in 2012. In 2007 we relocated Allseed Radiola linoides almost 70 years after it had been recorded during a meeting of the Botanical Exchange Club but Chaffweed Centunculus minimus has not been found since then. There are some fine populations of Lanceolate Spleenwort Asplenium obovatum, a number of small annual clovers and much more. We should also see Shore Dock Rumex rupestris at its best Devon location in the Cove, although may it may be too early to see fully developed fruit.
NON-MEMBERS WELCOME. Bring packed lunch and appropriate footwear. Please contact the leader if you wish to attend – meeting details can sometimes change at short notice and if the weather forecast looks poor the meeting may have to be cancelled. You should also check with the leader if you wish to bring your dog.
