2:10 Diane Walker ‘Exeter Cathedral: Exploring the First 200 Years’
Diane is an independent researcher who has been working at Exeter Cathedral for over ten years, where she runs the guide training programme. She is author of the new cathedral guide and worked with architectural historian Jonathan Foyle on the production of Exeter Cathedral: The Garden of Paradise, a richly illustrated book that offers a new perspective on this great religious building.
2:45 Alex Woodcock ‘Southwest Romanesque: Stone Sculpture in Devon and Cornwall 1066–1200’
Alex is not only a stone-carver but also an expert on medieval architectural sculpture. Following a PhD in 2003, he trained as a stonemason and worked at Exeter Cathedral for six years. He has published several papers and books on Romanesque carvings including the acclaimed King of Dust: Adventures in Forgotten Sculpture in 2019.
