Event Navigation
Exeter’s most devastating fire since World War II began at about 5.30 am on Friday 28th October 2016 above the Castle Fine Art Gallery in the Cathedral Yard. The blaze quickly spread to the adjacent Well House Tavern and completely gutted the iconic 18th century Royal Clarence Hotel, leaving only the exterior walls in place. Restoration work is well underway, including a reproduction of the original façade.
Entrance fee includes tea and biscuits.
