The Exeter Workmen’s Dwellings Company (E Devon Branch)

Fri. 11 March 2022 at 2:30 pm

£2 – £3

A talk “The Exeter Workmen’s Dwelling Company” to be given by Richard Holladay.

In the early 20th century, many of the poorer people of Exeter lived in appalling conditions. Dr. Charles Lovely realised that this situation desperately needed improvement, so he founded the Workmen’s Dwellings Company, supported by local benefactors like the Aclands.

Please join us to hear Richard Holladay, grandson of Charles Lovely, describe the work of his grandfather and how his legacy lives on today.

All are welcome to attend. Entrance fee: DA members £2, non-members £3, payable at the door.

A short Branch AGM will be held before the meeting (postponed from 11 February).
