Event Navigation
A talk by Liz Shakespeare.
Liz was born in Bideford and has lived in North Devon almost all her life. She has written seven books inspired by the history and landscapes of North Devon. In 1879 the effigies of two local people were burned on Torrington Common by a disorderly crowd of three thousand people. But Miss Lucy Jones had done nothing wrong…
The talk will be on the research that led to the writing of the book including other instances of “rough music” in Devon.
Cost: £3 members, £5 non-members.
