In a field on the north eastern edge of Tavistock is an enclosure of apparent prehistoric date known as the Trendle. The site is virtually unknown among the town’s inhabitants and has received relatively little attention from other archaeologists or local historians. Yet investigations since the 19th century have uncovered tantalising clues about the earliest known settlement site in the area.

This illustrated talk explores the known history of the site and reveals the exciting results of new archaeological and historical research undertaken in recent years by the Trendle project.

Note that this talk has been rescheduled from the previously announced date of 12 October.
