An illustrated talk by Dr Michael Patrick.
Three young artists, Richard Cosway, Richard Crosse and Ozias Humphry, left Devon in the mid-1700s and sought their training and the start of their careers in London. All three developed their talents as important miniature painters. Mike will describe their careers and their interactions with each other and other well-known English painters of the day.
Mike Patrick is a fluid dynamicist and retired Exeter University teacher, with a long-standing interest in Devon’s Georgian miniaturists.
