Visit to Appledore (Buildings Section)

Wed. 16 April 2025 at 10:30 am

£8

A visit to the charming historic fishing village of Appledore with its winding narrow cobbled streets overlooking the Torridge estuary. It has hardly been touched by modern architecture and retains a unique unspoilt charm.

At 10:30, David Carter, local historian and author will give us an illustrated talk of Appledore and its buildings in the morning. There are cafes and pubs nearby for you to choose your own lunch venue or bring your own lunch. After lunch David will give us a guided tour of the village for about 90 minutes. We will finish about 4pm.

Accessibility: Appledore Community Hall has level access and toilets. The walking will be on pavements with an occasional steep section. Public toilets are available at Appledore Quay car park.

Parking: Available in car parks at Odun Road EX39 1PT, opposite the Maritime Museum, or at the far end of Appledore Quay EX39 1RL.

Closing date for booking: Wednesday 2 April. Bookings are taken in order of receipt. Non-Buildings Section members (including friends & spouses) will only be considered after members.
