Visit to Cadhay House (E Devon Branch)

Fri. 5 September 2025 at 1:15 pm

£18

A visit to the historic Cadhay House and its beautiful gardens.

Cadhay House is a grade I listed Elizabethan building built in 1550, which retains the hall of an earlier medieval house. An Elizabethan long gallery forms a unique courtyard with statues of Tudor monarchs on each side. The present garden was laid out in 1910 with borders, a lawn and an avenue of yew trees which lead to the medieval fishponds.

We will assemble in the free car-park at 1.15 pm where our tour guides will meet us to take us to the house for a tour of approximately one hour. We will hear about the history of the house and the people who lived there whilst exploring most of the house, including the roof chamber. We will then be taken on a tour of the garden with Marcus, the head gardener. The gardens are fairly compact with good level paths and easy walking on grass. Our visit will conclude with tea in the tearoom in the walled garden. This will consist of a pot of tea with cakes or a cream tea which is included in the price of £18 per person.
