Visit to Sampford Courtenay (Buildings Section)

Professor Mark Stoyle will give a talk in the village hall on The Western Rebellion of 1549.
After a picnic lunch, at St Andrew’s church Dr Sue Andrew will discuss the medieval church and Dr Helen Wilson will relate the restoration of the church c.1900, including slightly later work by the Pinwill sisters.
Followed by a visit to the Church House – site of the murder of William Hellyons in 1549 and likely headquarters of the rebels.
The cost includes tea and biscuits but not lunch.
