Visit to the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum (Exeter Branch)
Fri. 18 October 2019 at 2:00 pm
Our final event in the 2019 programme is a free guided tour of the University of Exeter’s Bill Douglas Cinema Museum, which is both an accredited museum and an academic research facility. Of the 75 000 items in the collection related to moving images, 1,000 are on display in two galleries: the upper gallery demonstrates the evolution of pre-cinema optical entertainment up until 1910; the lower gallery is dedicated to cinema from 1910 onwards.
The tour will be led by Dr Philip Wickham, or a museum team guide.
The museum is located in the Old Library on the University’s main Streatham Campus, midway along the Prince of Wales Road and adjacent to the University Chapel. Public transport is probably preferable to using private cars, because parking can be extremely difficult during term-time.
Booking is required and numbers will be limited to 20/25.
