Visit to Yarner Wood (S Devon Branch)
Thu. 16 July 2026 at 10:45 am
£8 – £15
Event Navigation
Yarner Wood was among the first declared National Nature Reserves in 1952. Lying on the edge of Dartmoor between Bovey Tracey and Manaton it was the site of the Yarner copper mine and was reputedly used for training American troops prior to D-Day.
The deciduous oak woodland and heath is managed by Natural England and the site hosts a wide variety of education programmes and wildlife surveys, with data in some cases stretching back to its inception as a Reserve. Our guided walk will be by one of the wardens and will focus on the surveys and science being conducted in the reserve.
Meet at the Middle Trendlebere carpark. Full details will be sent to those booking.
There is an optional light lunch afterwards in Liverton, courtesy of the Branch Chairman.
Numbers are limited, contact the Organiser (details below) to book or for any enquiries. When booking please advise if you will also be coming to the lunch.
Cost for the walk: DA members £8, non-members £10. For the optional lunch £5.
