Does anyone else have any memories of when the Queen came to distribute the Royal Maundy at Exeter Cathedral in 1983. I was fourteen at the time and, as my father was a member of the Cathedral Chapter, I was allowed to attend the service. Afterwards we were told to queue up at the gate between the Cathedral Office carpark and the Bishop’s Palace garden in order to curtsey or bow to the Queen as she walked past. My abiding memories of the day are the choir’s unforgettable rendition of Zadok the Priest and how tiny the Queen was!
