President’s Symposium, May 2024

The subject of our 2024 Symposium is

Colour and Form: Unique Insights into Devon’s Art and Practice

Hosted by our 2023-24 President, Jenny Pery, it will be held on Saturday 11 May 2024
at Petroc College, Tiverton.

Midnight Sun I by Jenny Pery

The Symposium will focus on Visual Art, perhaps the most inspiring and civilising aspect of all the arts. We will explore the world of Colour, focusing on the origin of pigments followed by the work of two exceptional Devon painters.

We will then examine Form in the work of one of Devon’s foremost wood engravers, and the many essential products made from ball clay by Devon’s leading clay company.

Finally two acclaimed exhibition designers will discuss how art may be presented to the public in the most lucid and eye-catching way.
